Electromagnetic Transient Study of Solar Plant

Electromagnetic Transient Study

To ensure stability and reliability, a 300 MW solar plant underwent an electromagnetic transient (EMT) study. The study focused on analyzing the plant’s behavior during disturbances and its readiness for grid connection. Such analysis is vital for seamless integration and uninterrupted solar generation performance.

Problem Statement

1. The planned integration of a 300 MW PV plant with a 132 kV substation required network reliability assessment.
2. Without EMT analysis, the plant could face issues during switching, faults, or surge events.
3. Risks included sub-synchronous resonance, grid instability, and unplanned outages.
