R-FERM® stands for Remote Fault-time Earth Resistance Monitoring system, which uses advanced, patented technology. It is one of the advanced monitoring tools that provides real-time health status of hidden earthing faults in earth pits through automated earth resistance measurement.
It also monitors the behaviour of the earthing system during fault time. The system has the capability to trigger email and mobile SMS alerts and notifies the registered O&M representative on the occurrence of any fault or system deterioration. This invention will change manual process to automated process providing continuous online monitoring system that enables detection, recording, trend analysis, annunciation, and condition-based maintenance for earthing system.
Most importantly, it will perform fault time health analysis of earthing system such that necessary corrections are executed to save life and asset during future faults. R-FERM is a combination of Electronic Devices and Software.
Fermtalk is R-FERM’s hardware part, consisting of DataBee, ComByte, and accessories such as Wi-Fi routers and repeaters. It is used for continuous monitoring and predictive maintenance of each earthing system. It consists of two components.
Databee: A sensor that measures earth pit resistance. It is connected to the Combyte to share its estimated value. These sensors are placed inside the earth pit for accurate measurement.
ComByte: A communication device in the Manav R-FERM system, placed next to the DataBee sensor. It continuously collects data from the sensor and sends it to the cloud for real-time monitoring. Fully battery-operated, ComByte requires no external power and offers up to 1 year of battery life. Its compact and wireless design makes it ideal for remote or hard-to-access locations. With ComByte, your grounding system stays connected and monitored 24/7.
FermSoft is a specially designed UI that analyses gathered information from FermTalk parts. It uses a three-level hierarchy configuration to provide better data monitoring and control.
1. R-FERM operates seamlessly over a GSM mobile network, enabling real-time data transmission without wired connectivity.
2. Ideal for remote or distributed sites where fixed internet infrastructure is not available.
3. R-FERM Combyte devices are installed at each site (Location 1 and 2) and are wired to Databee.
4. These devices communicate wirelessly through a GSM Radio Tower to transmit data.
5. Data is sent over the GSM Network to a central server, which authorized user devices can access via the internet.
1. R-FERM transmits data through a Wi-Fi router-based network, ensuring smooth and reliable communication.
2. Ideal for locations with existing internet infrastructure, offering a cost-effective and efficient monitoring solution.
3. At each site (Location 1 and 2), R-FERM Combyte devices connect via wired links to the Databee to capture accurate earth fault data.
4. The devices are connected to a Wi-Fi Router, which sends data securely over the internet to the central server.
5. Uers can access this data from any connected device using a web portal or dashboard.
Identifies earth faults early to prevent system failures.
Enables remote monitoring of earthing systems for real-time data.
Protects assets and lives by identifying faulty earthing conditions.
Monitors earth pits to prevent equipment damage.
Sends instant alerts to detect any fault for quick response.
It gives alert when something is wrong in the earth pit and monitor’s earthing system’s health, helping to fix problems before it becomes major issue.
R-FERM send’s automated alerts if it detects issues like earth faults or battery problems if the system exceeds safe limits.
Yes, it is possible to install in existing earth pit without any change However, the system cannot be installed in leached or corroded or unfunctional earth pits.
Yes, it requires Internet connection. We can use either Wi-Fi or ethernet mode for the connection.
R-FERM continuously checks the earthing system’s resistance and detects faults by measuring resistance during both normal and fault conditions.
R-FERM requires minimal maintenance, thanks to its robust design and advanced technology. Regular firmware updates and software patches are provided to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Additionally, periodic inspections and system checks may be recommended to ensure continued functionality and accuracy.
